Summary: Penny stores your data on your device only. We do not run a cloud service, do not sell your data, and do not use analytics or ads. Internet is used only for optional in-app purchases (Penny Pro) through Google Play or the App Store.

1. Who we are

Penny is published by Shivam Nextgen. Questions: shivamnextgen1@gmail.com.

2. Data stored on your device

Penny saves information locally in an encrypted database, including:

Transactions (amounts, dates, notes, tags)
Accounts, categories, budgets, and recurring rules
Optional receipt photos you attach
App settings and (optional) app-lock PIN hash
Pro unlock status on this device

We do not receive this data — Penny has no backend server for your finances.

3. What we do not do

No account sign-up or cloud sync
No analytics, ads, or tracking SDKs
No SMS, contacts, location, or bank linking
No selling or renting your personal information

4. When data leaves your device (your choice)

Encrypted backup — You may export a password-protected .penny file (AES-256-GCM). You choose where to save it. We do not know your backup password.

CSV export (Pro) — You may export transactions via the system share sheet.

Share into Penny (Android) — Text you share from another app may be read to pre-fill a transaction.

In-app purchases — Google or Apple processes Pro purchases. Your spending data is not sent.

5. Permissions

6. Third parties

Google Play Billing (Android) and Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) may process purchase-related data according to their policies. Penny does not use analytics or advertising services.

7. Retention & deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Backups you saved elsewhere remain under your control. We cannot delete device data remotely.

8. Security

Local encryption, hashed PIN, encrypted backups, and disabled automatic Android cloud backup for app data. Keep your device and backup passwords secure.

9. Children

Penny is not directed at children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has used the app inappropriately.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use means acceptance of the updated policy.
